MI_3DAY_banner_2.jpg

This is where we will create lists of items that are needed for the 3-Day. This will help new members to prepare in advance of the event. If you see anything that needs to be added click the edit tab in the upper right hand corner of this window and you will be allowed to make changes. If you want to be sure that others see your changes choose a color other than black for your text from the editor tool bar that appears when you click edit.

If there is a New Balance store near you they give a discount to 3-Day walkers on all shoes, socks, clothing. They have great shoes and I love their socks. You can also tell other shoes stores that you are walking in the 3-Day and know that New Balance gives a discount and you were wondering if they will as well. It never hurts to ask.

Items to pack:
  1. small sleeping bag
  2. small air mattress or pad
  3. 2 small tarps per tent (one for under, one for top) If each team member packs one we should be able to fit everything in our bags. I'll try to get these and then distribute them for packing.
  4. 2 pairs of shoes
  5. moleskin or other blister care items
  6. chapstick
  7. sunscreen
  8. body glide or vaseline to help prevent blisters and chafing
  9. 5 pairs of socks (need to change each day at lunch and you are already wearing one)
  10. 2 sets of walking clothes (pack in large ziplock bags. These bags will hold your smelly sweaty ones at the end of the day)
  11. Something to sleep in
  12. Flip flops or other shoes to use at camp and in the shower truck
  13. Bathroom items-no hairdryers or other appliances. No need for towels-we recommend signing up for towel service so you always have a clean dry towel ready for you.
  14. Water bottle or some type of hydration
  15. A way to carry extra socks, moleskin, chapstick, and other essentials for the course.
  16. Ear Plugs!

Fundraising Ideas:
  1. Print out donation forms (link is on the bottom of your personal page) keep them with you so you can give them to people who don't like online "spending"
  2. Email/snail mail fundraising letter to everyone you know. You will be surprised who will donate. Last time my physical therapist made a $60 donation and I was not even seeing her anymore.
  3. Suggest $60 as a donation amount, pointing out that it is a $1.00 a mile.
  4. Use the sample fundraising letter that is on the site as a jumping off point. It is a good base to start from.
  5. Make your letter as personal as possible. Let people know how you have been touched by breast cancer (or any cancer since research helps with all cancers).
  6. If you know anyone who has a business see if they will "sponsor" you.
